JULY 23 - ROB'S BLOG

Further to Gavin's blog about 'Some Velvet Morning' being Q's no.1 duet, I'd like to hear what your favourite duets are.  Here's a few of mine:  Simon and Garfunkel - "America," Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder - "Ebony and Ivory," Nancy and Frank Sinatra - "Something Stupid" - actually the list could go on for some time.

Mail me your favourites here and I will list the best and most unusual.  Anyone going to admit to liking Robson and Jerome, having smuggled it home in a brown paper bag, put it in a different CD case so your friends didn't know you bought it and then only played it with headphones? No, I didn't buy it, but if I'm feeling brave, I may choose to list some of my more embarassing purchases in the future.

JULY 21

Anyone seen this month's Q Magazine? Rather amusingly they have a piece listing their Top 10 Duets Of All Time - and guess which song is at No 1? Why, Some Velvet Morning by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood, of course...

JULY 3

Folks, Thursday's stage time at The Metro has been moved. Instead of 8.00pm, we're now headlining the night at 9.45pm.

Also, look out for the US-only release of How To Start A Revolution, exlusively on Amie Street this week.

JULY 1

Hello! As you've no doubt already noticed, we've had a bit of a rebrand. We've also put up a couple of (edited) new tracks on our MySpace.

Also, we're off to play in Thailand in September. How splendid is that? Answer: very.

Moving on, and this week's gig at the Metro will see us previewing quite a bit of material from our new album, including a debut for our current favourite Hollywood. We're on stage a bit earlier than usual too - 8pm. See you then...

APRIL 19

Well, despite a rather annoying power cut, we were able to get the bass and drums recorded for two songs last week. We'll be heading into the studio again in a few days to finish them both up.

Next week sees us back on the live circuit after a six week break with a show at the always charming Borderline. May and June are also filling up gig-wise, with dates in Liverpool, Crewe, Nottingham, Leeds and York pencilled in, as well as us beginning a monthly residency at Oxford Street's The Metro.

Also, we've been booked to play Mayfair's uber chic celeb haunt, The Cuckoo Club. The venue recently played host to Oasis and Dirty Pretty Things (among many others), so to say we're looking forward to that one would be something of an understatement. More soon...

APRIL 7

Foks, first up apologies for the lack of updates. The truth is we're continuing to bounce song ideas around and that doesn't really make for great reading. Still, we're off to record two tracks on Tuesday at our favourite studio in Willesden (as seen in our Losing My Mind video), one of which we're hopeful of becoming the first single from our second album.

Also, our Official site is getting a revamp at the moment, so updates on their may be a little sporadic for the next few weeks or so.

On a more exciting note, look out for a couple of competitions we're running over the next couple of months. The prize for one is especially super wonderfully lovely.

MARCH 22

Boy, it's been a while since an update. Hmm, let's see...

Well, the second album progress continues (see pic below). I'd say we're about half-way through. We'll likely be starting recording over the next month, with a view to releasing a single for the end of Spring/start of Summer. Look out also for a little UK tour around that time as well.

Also, it's about a month until our Borderline show, where we'll be performing four new songs from our as-yet-untitled new album. However, we'd also like to know what songs from our debut you'd like to hear. Quite simply the most popular gets in the set...

Finally, Diary Of The Dead - pretty much what you expect from a zombie flick. An alright watch. 3/5

MARCH 12

So, I made it back reasonably unscathed from my weekend in the zoo. I'd also like to thank the large number of you who mailed in to say it's where I belong. Charming...

Moving on, and I was at Dirty Dancing The Musical this week (it was a free ticket, honest). Well, to say the ladies were a little excitable would be something of an understatement. Overall it wasn't actually too bad, although the overly muscled male lead wandering around in his underwear was pretty unnecessary. Most of the audience didn't seem to mind, though...

MARCH 7

I have a rather strange few days in store this weekend - I'm off to stay in a zoo. Yes, you read that correctly. It's a bit too long of a story to go into, but I have to say I am rather excited. Full report on Monday...

Also, thanks to everyone who has said nice things about the little Propaganda video on YouTube. It was done by a rather lovely chap named Nick Jackson, whose MySpace page can be seen here. And while you're on YouTube, why not take a look at this truly splendid one-minute "round-up" of SVM's 2007.

MARCH 5

Quick one: Go look at this rather splendid video we got sent for Propaganda. Marvellous!

Also, caught Rambo this week - and it's actually quite good. And yes, there is A LOT of blood. 3.5/5
